How to share your Google Maps location on your iPhone, iPad, Android or web browser

  • Go to your Google Maps app (make sure your app is updated to the latest version) or visit Google maps at Google.com/maps
  • Tap your profile picture in the top right
  • press sharing of space
  • Click the “Share Location” button
  • Select the first row you see amount of time you share your space. If you don’t feel comfortable sharing your location indefinitely, make sure you set a time frame when you travel and then end (ie “for 1 hour” or “until you turn it off”).
  • In the next row, Select the people you want to share your location with. Note: anyone with a link you send via email or text will be able to see your name, photo, and real-time location.
  • press share button
  • Your contact will receive an email or text message with a link. After clicking, your contact can view your location on Google Maps on their device.

How to stop sharing your location on your iPhone, iPad, Android or web browser

  • In the bottom row, you will see the contact with whom you have shared your location
  • click that row
  • In the next menu, in the second line “stop“, to stop sharing your location.

Yes, you can share your Google Maps location with someone who doesn’t have a Google account. The steps involved are slightly different.

  • Open it on your mobile device or tablet Google Maps program
  • hit profile picture and go sharing of space
  • press Share Location
  • press More Options
  • THE Share with link a menu will open. click on it “Share” button
  • hit Copy it to copy your location sharing link
  • Paste that link into an email, text, or other messaging app and send it to the person you want to share your location with.
