Kate Middleton turns 41 on Monday — the day before brother-in-law Prince Harry’s much-publicized memoir “Reserve” finally goes on sale.
Most likely, this will not be the happiest day for the princess.
“Harry and Meghan have always had a knack for picking their timing,” said a senior royal source who knows Prince William and Kate. The Prince of Wales and Prince Harry’s bombshell is “left out” of the book, a source said.
But it wasn’t always like that. In fact, when William asked Kate the question after being together for eight years younger brother Harry was excited, saying of his brother’s wedding in 2010: “It means I’ve got the sister I’ve always wanted.”
The woman Harry once spoke so glowingly of is presented in his book as cold and uncaring.
“Kate, William and Harry were best friends, they were inseparable,” the Welsh source said. “These are the words of a man who is literally blinded by love, unable to see straight.”
However, in “The Spare”, Harry blames Kate for taking his beloved brother “Willy” away from him. After their April 2011 wedding, they wrote: “The brother I accompanied to Westminster Abbey that morning was gone forever. Who could deny that?”
Controversially, Harry has written that he wanted to form a business partnership with William, Kate and his own wife – even before he met and fell in love with the Suits star in 2016.
“I also said that I couldn’t wait for them to meet him, that I was looking forward to the four of us spending a lot of time together, and for the umpteenth time I admitted that it had been my dream for a long time – to join them with an equal partner. To be foursome,” Harry writes.
Instead, Kate and Markle have never been close friends.
Since her relationship with the prince came to light, Markle has been publicly compared to Kate. The future queen of Britain: English rose versus outspoken American actress.
Inside Harry’s new memoir
According to Harry’s book, because the focus was on Mark, Kate felt she was “forced to compete with Meg”. He details when Kate was “upset”. Markle asked to buy lip gloss spoke at the first Fab Four event, the Royal Foundation Forum in February 2018.
The Duke of Sussex wrote that the visit marked the beginning of the division of women by the press after journalists “felt” the tension during the panel.
Harry writes: “I think Kate has warned him and everyone else that she will now be compared to Meg and forced to compete with her.”
He adds that Kate was furious in 2018 Markle accused him of having the “brain of a child”. After the birth of Prince Louis, Markle demanded an apology.
Harry then said the couple met over tea at Kensington Palace in June 2018 to reconcile.
However, the prince claims that Kate told her new sister-in-law: “You talked about my hormones. We’re not close enough to talk about my hormones!”
Harry, now 38, remembers how “hurt” Kate gripped his chair so tightly that her fingers turned white.
“Honestly, I can imagine Harry and William coming to fight. “I think William is pretty hot,” the Welsh source said. “But Kate has been one of Harry’s biggest supporters so it’s really heartbreaking.”
Despite the hurtful comments, the source insisted William and Kate would not be separated from the book, saying: “They’ve bonded so much that they’ve come through such strong things.” Still, “everyone is quite shocked, shaken. Let’s be honest, it was blow after blow.
“It’s very disrespectful, very hurtful and [the book is just delivering the last blow. It’s like when you’re in the boxing ring and there’s the knockout punch — there’s no way back.”
In Harry and Markle’s infamous 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Markle, now 41, confirmed that she felt she had been held to a different standard than Kate.
Winfrey shared a media story in which Kate was celebrated for cradling her baby bump — while a later story about Markle doing the same thing had the headline: “Meghan Can’t Keep Hands Off Baby Bump for Pride or Vanity.”
“I don’t know why. I can see now what layers were at play there,” Markle told Winfrey.
“[The press] He really wanted a hero and villain story.
While Markle was happy to talk, Kate stuck to the royal family’s oft-repeated motto – “Never complain, never explain” – and remained silent, like her husband and other relatives.
Markle herself recently claimed in the Netflix documentary series Harry & Meghan that Kate was “official” behind closed doors.
“Even when Will and Kate came to me and I met her for the first time, I remember I was in ripped jeans, I was barefoot,” she said.
The Duchess of Sussex added that she “hugs all the time” and didn’t realize how “upsetting” it was to “a lot of Brits”.
However, an insider responded by revealing this to People magazine kate is a hugger added: “He is warm and friendly and greets everyone with big hugs and kisses. It is natural for him to be like that.”
there was one Row over wedding dress for Princess Charlotte, daughter of William and Kate, for the May 2018 wedding of the Sussexes. While reports said Markle made Kate cry, Markle told Winfrey it was the opposite; Harry writes that he came home after the incident to find his fiancee sobbing on the floor.
“I was horrified when I saw it [Meghan] I was very upset, but I didn’t think it was a disaster,” he writes and considers the situation small. “Indeed the next morning, Kate came with flowers and a card saying she was sorry.”
As Page Six previously reported, Kate has strong family support with her parents Carole and Mike Middleton, as well as her sister Pippa and brother James, and the family has embraced William. Meanwhile, Harry seems to have had an affair with Markle’s mother, Doria.
Asked what Harry’s book means for his relationship with William and Kate, a source familiar with the Welles said: “I hope Harry has some honest points when he writes this. “I think there was a moment when people thought it would be a smarter, less provocative, less tabloid book, but here we are.”
