though apple has not yet given any official information. The iPhone 14 series is expected to arrive in September. This year, leaks have suggested a lot about the new iPhone 14 lineup, including key differences between the Pro and non-Pro models, the lack of a “mini” variant, and Apple’s signature new design option. Here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming iPhone 14 lineup.
No more “minis”.
Leaks have suggested for months that the iPhone 14 series will be introduced in a compact ‘mini’ variant. It seems that Apple has decided to abandon the small-sized iPhone due to poor sales and will not continue to manufacture them from the iPhone 14 series. While the flagship series focuses on larger phones, Apple fans who want a compact device can now only stick with the iPhone SE series.
Four new iPhone variants
Despite the lack of a “mini” variant, Apple will produce four different iPhone variants this year, including the iPhone 12 and 13 series. However, the new iPhone 14 Max is set to debut this year alongside the usual lineup of vanilla Apple iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. This will leave buyers with two options for the large iPhone, as they will be able to get the larger iPhone without putting more money behind buying the “Pro” variant just because of the size.
Different chipsets by series
The iPhone 14 series could also be the first iPhone series where we’ll see different chipsets powering the Pro and non-Pro variants of the phone. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will only bring the new A16 Bionic chip to the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max could still be powered by last year’s A15 chip or a variant of it with some modifications.
Apple is also reportedly bringing new components Sony (for the camera) and LG (for the phone’s screen) are only meant for the Pro variants, so the non-Pro iPhone 14 variants might not see a big camera upgrade compared to last year either.
New “i-shaped” notch
The new iPhone 14-series is also said to be the first phone to replace Apple’s signature with a new one. i-shaped notch. This will involve cutting a round hole along with a longer pill-shaped notch. While a front-facing camera hole is expected, the pill-shaped notch may house IR sensors for Apple’s FaceID functionality.

However, we don’t yet know if the new design will come to all four models or just the Pro variants.

A new leak CGTrader It showed us what the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max variants could look like. Check out the images below.
As you can see, except for the new notches, not much difference is expected in the design this year. The phones will have the same metal chassis design and triple camera setup at the back.
The iPhone 14 Max may be lacking at launch
The newest entry in the line, the non-Pro ‘Max’ variant, is expected to be quite unassuming due to supply constraints. Analyst Ross Young suggested that display panel shipments for the new Max variant are “way behind” schedule. This also suggests that we will see a unique display panel for the iPhone 14 Max, which is expected to be the same size as the rumored 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max, but with a different notch implementation.
