This may come as a surprise to players left the game long ago and assumed that time had already come, but publishers Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix announced the imminent end of online support. Marvel’s Avengers.
in A blog post published on ThursdayThe final piece, signed by ‘Marvel’s Avengers Development Team’, reads:
To our wonderful community,
After two and a half years and after the 2.8 update on March 31st, 2023, after introducing twelve of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, we will no longer be adding new content or features to Marvel’s Avengers. All official support for the game will end on September 30, 2023.
Even after official support ends on September 30, 2023, both single and multiplayer gameplay will continue to exist…
…As a show of our appreciation for our community, starting March 31, 2023, we will make all of the game’s Marketplace, Challenge Card, and Shipment cosmetic content available for free to all players. If you own a copy of the game, every Outfit, Wipe, Emote, and Nameplate purchased from the Marketplace, Challenge Cards, and Shipments will be free for all players from this date.
Giving away the full library of Marketplace cosmetic content is our way of saying thank you to our community by allowing everyone to experience the breadth and depth of content in Marvel’s Avengers.
We know this is disappointing news because everyone in our community has such a connection to these characters and their stories. We are very, very grateful that you are coming on this adventure with us. Your excitement for Marvel’s Avengers – from your epic Photo Mode shots, to your threads theorizing who our next Heroes will be, to your Twitch streams – played a huge part in making this game happen.
We hope you will continue to play and enjoy Marvel’s Avengers. We can’t thank you enough for your support and being part of our super team.

While the launch of the game’s Marketplace is described here as a gesture of goodwill, it is of course the same marketplace—It was tied to some silly notion that every game had to be a forever game depending on the hard work inherent in the live service experience.– that helped kill him. ‘
While being an Embracer Last year, it struck a deal to buy out the game’s developers, separating them from the publisher that made them Avengers license agreement, it was announced at the time that any pre-release games would continue to be supported. This suggests that this decision is simply due to not enough people wanting to play or buy items Marvel’s Avengers already.
As the note says, this doesn’t mean the game is completely gone from the internet. You’ll still be able to play it, even in multiplayer; After September 30th, there will be no further updates or even technical support for it.
