McDonald’s Thursday launched a test restaurant focused on on-the-go and delivery orders.
A test restaurant operated by a franchisee is located nearby Fort Worth, Texas🇧🇷 The fast-food chain said in a blog post that it is “significantly smaller than a traditional McDonald’s restaurant in the United States, as it is designed for customers who plan to dine at home or on the go.”

McDonald’s said the restaurant has a separate “front order lane” consisting of a conveyor belt that serves customers. Food and drinks they ordered through the program. According to the blog post, the dedicated lane uses “technology that allows the restaurant team to begin preparing customers’ orders when they are near the restaurant.”
According to McDonald’s, food delivery couriers have dedicated rooms within the restaurant to pick up orders, and customers have kiosks and shelves to order and pick up their food, respectively.

McDonald’s first announced plans for such a restaurant concept in November 2020 when it unveiled its new growth strategy.
