NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 high-end GPUs get additional discounts, mid-range models not so much

Another week, another price drop, but only for some models.

Retailers are clearly getting rid of high-end GeForce RTX 30 models. Unfortunately, this is not the case with mid-range and entry-level SKUs. NVIDIA was expected to announce price cuts for the RTX 30 series in mid-July, but unfortunately that didn’t happen either, at least not officially. Instead, we had ‘unofficial’ price cuts from retailers and board partners (such as EVGA), who were selling cards at exactly the rumored discounted prices.

Fast forward 10 days and we now have even lower prices. For example, the RTX 3090 Ti, already down from $2,000 to $1,500, is now on sale for $1,450, which is another $50 in just 10 days. This is based on the lowest price from Newegg (new items only).

The same price cut applies to the RTX 3090, which is now available for $1,250. More importantly, there’s a bigger discount on the RTX 3080 Ti Ventus from MSI. Mail-in-rebae can be used to shop for cards 900 USDI mean $200 cheaper in just 10 days.

Of course, this is only a local discount for one store, but it shows a clear trend that should be visible at other companies. After looking at the MSRPs listed by Benchlife and Newegg, mid-July price cuts, we can immediately see that only the high-end models get significant discounts very quickly, but the mid- and low-end SKUs are still more than MSRP.

Just a few months ago, no one would have thought that the RTX 3090 would be sold at such a low price. But just this week, the RTX 3090 dropped to $999 at retail, and that offer has been around for at least two days.

As we approach September/October, many such offers will appear at various retailers, especially for the high-end series that are being replaced first. NVIDIA’s plans list the RTX 4090 as the first next-gen model to go on sale, so naturally there will be pressure to sell as many RTX3090Ti/3090 cards as possible first.
