As part of the MINI x Pokémon collaboration, BMW has unveiled a Pokémon-themed version of its all-electric Mini Aceman concept car.

Shown during a slightly odd segment Gamescom Opening Night Live, as hosted by Geoff Keighley, had a lot of flowery brand-oriented language, but not much in the way of specificity. It’s a concept car with “gaming features,” though it’s never been revealed what that means.

The car sports plenty of neat Pokémon graphics across the dash, but Oliver Heilmer, head of Mini design and quizzed by Keighley about the car, showed his best media training moves by deflecting the first question to talk a little spitball. Gamescom and then leads the conversation to a very specific…nothingness. A Mini is more than a car, you see; this character you partner to explore the path.

This collaboration seems to be a match made in heaven, as Pikachu is an electric type and the car is also electric – the marketing team must have picked up the two, perhaps three all the seconds to find it. Good news for Ash and his beloved Pocket Monster, as they’ll probably be able to stay on the road in their badass set of wheels, avoiding a spike in energy prices as the life crisis sweeps across the globe.

Apparently you can connect your game console to this Mini, but again, no specifics have been given. ‘Play on’ is the slogan behind this collaboration. Thankfully they were able to include this important information or we would be left with questions.

So yes. An odd segment to be sure. But hey, at least this bit wasn’t based on space. we was Disappointed that Geoff didn’t ask Oliver for his favorite Pokemon like he said.

BMW Blog There is detailed information about the machine. Check out the video below (skip to the end for the Pokemon bit):
