Finally, the Skyrim Together Reborn co-op mod is available for download Via Nexus Mods. As you may have guessed, it aims to achieve a very specific goal: to introduce cooperative multiplayer to Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, tested with up to 30 players.
If you experience deja vu, it’s completely normal. we first covered Skyrim Together more than three years ago, when the mod is about to enter Closed Beta status. However, the ambitious project was abruptly halted by a scandal when the public learned how modders were using code stolen from Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE).
As confirmed in the official FAQ, Skyrim Together Reborn has been reworked from the ground up by a new team that makes sure this version is vastly improved. For example, there is now full synchronization of NPCs, monsters (including dragons), quests, inventory and equipment, projectiles, spells, stealth, locks, mounts, and transformations (to vampires or werewolves).
Dialogues are synchronized by the party leader. When the party leader speaks to an NPC or makes a dialogue choice, the others will hear and see the same.
Of course, one of the main changes is that the game no longer loads a save file after death. Instead, the player character will respawn nearby. If a player character dies in a dungeon or interior, they will respawn at the start of the dungeon/interior. Additionally, characters automatically pay any outstanding crime bounties upon death, thus ensuring they won’t be harassed by guards upon respawning. There is also an option in the server settings where rebirth costs some gold.
Skyrim Together Reborn’s default difficulty setting is Expert. The developers recommend keeping it as high as possible, considering the game was never balanced for multiplayer. For the same reason, it is not recommended to use NPC followers.
PvP is disabled by default, although there is a server setting that can enable it. However, keep in mind that PvP will not be balanced in any way.
Skyrim Together Reborn can only be installed on Steam’s version 1.6 of Skyrim Special Edition. started last year with the 10th Anniversary update. However, the mod creators do not recommend using the mod pack that comes with it or any other mod if you can help it. Because they are out of sync and can potentially cause stability issues. Graphics mods should generally be fine, and if you really want to install mods, there’s also a server setting that enforces a mod policy so that everyone installs the same mods in the same order.
Although the mod is considered a 1.0 release, the team also wants to implement additional features such as player markers/waypoints on the map, synchronized weather, and a scripting API. However, the team hopes that since Skyrim Together Reborn is open source, other contributors will join in to help.
