IT CAME ON FIRE WHEN IT WAS DISCONNECTED AFTER THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT. SAC METRO fire crews battle flames on HIGHWAY 50 EAST IN RANCHO CORDOVA. TOOK A CAR, A WATER TENDER AND A LADDER CAR FROM BOTH SIDES. WHEN THE CELL CONTINUED TO FIRE, 6,000 GALLONS OF WATER WERE USED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. NO ONE OF THE PROPERTY WAS INJURED

Sacramento metro fire had to put out a fire on Highway 50 Saturday after a Tesla Model S battery caught fire. Metro Fire said the Tesla caught fire near Rancho Cordova while speeding on the freeway, and crews needed 6,000 gallons of water to extinguish the flames. Sacramento metro fire had to put out a fire on Highway 50 Saturday after a Tesla Model S battery caught fire.
