I have been covers televisions hour CES years, so it takes a lot to surprise me. I’ve seen some wild displays to rolland those that are so big mostly video walls, but these usually come after several prototypes that reduce the shock. When I walked into LG’s room at a hotel in Las Vegas, this is what I saw in front of the room big surprise

And I mean great. It’s a 97-inch OLED TV, and it remains the world’s largest OLED TV. And because OLED provides best picture quality available, which is very impressive for a person of this size. But that was not the surprise… LG introduced it last year. To me, the jaw-dropping LG representative came to call me beautiful, massive 4K the image was transmitted to the TV without any wires.

Wireless TV is real and it’s coming this year.

In the room in front of the TV was a wireless transmission box. It was standard on the back of the box hdmi plugs and a few other connections and an HDMI cable went to the Blu-ray player. The image on the screen was from a Blu-ray disc, transmitted wirelessly and flawlessly to my eyes – from the box to the TV. The top of the box can be rotated to point the internal antenna at the TV.

The TV itself had no video input, just a piece of bare metal where TV inputs were usually located on the back. The idea is to reduce wires, the old bugaboo of fancy TV sets. You, the person who can afford a 97-inch OLED TV, put your AV equipment in an out-of-sight cabinet, along with the box where everything is connected. This leaves only the power cable to the TV, a wire cleverly hidden inside one of the legs of the LG stand.

Of course, any number of TV stands can also hold your gear. But wireless connectivity allows the TV to stand alone, which looks impressive on one of LG’s bench-like stands (pictured above), which can make wall-mounting a lot easier.

LG says the box can be placed up to 30 feet from the TV. I asked if the wireless connection was a potential hazard, especially if you’re sitting between the box and the TV, and company representatives said it wasn’t because it uses similar technology to standard Wi-Fi routers. They also said it won’t be affected by other Wi-Fi traffic. Can control up to the signal 4K, 120Hz resolution, which is pretty much the maximum for today’s games. It’s also the highest resolution and frame rate most TVs can handle, including LG’s regular 4K OLED models.

There are three HDMI inputs on the box, surprisingly most high-end TVs have four, but that’s not a deal breaker in my book. The rest of the ports are typical for a TV: antenna, two USB, Ethernet and optical digital output, as well as a serial port for home automation control.

Wireless TVs have been sold in the past, and wireless technology has also appeared in projectors. You can also buy wireless HDMI extender kits for $100 or less, but they generally can’t handle such high bandwidth. It’s the first time I’ve seen it installed on TV in years. A company called Replace the TV It also showed off a wireless OLED model at CES, but it’s a 55-inch, battery-powered display designed for portability.

In addition to the 97-inch size, LG will release the wireless OLED in 83-inch and 77-inch sizes, called the M3 series. LG says it will arrive in 2023, like the rest of LG’s 2023 TVs, with prices yet to be determined. FYI, LG charges $25,000 for a standard, wired 97-inch OLED TV and $2,900 for a 77-inch TV, so regardless of size, the M3 won’t come cheap.

In addition to the M3, LG was also introduced three other wired OLED TV series At CES 2023.
